Mr. Rolf's Art Class

Twenty-six high school art students from Drexel, traveled to Bentonville, Arkansas, on April 10, 2019, to see “Crystal Bridges”. It is a magnificent art museum in northwest Arkansas that houses art, sculptures, and architecture dating back to the 1700s.

We spent the morning looking at art and touring the facilities. It was paid for by the museum (busing, substitute teachers and meal). Alice Walton, daughter of the late Sam Walton (Walmart), had the complex built to offer a quality of art and special exhibits for the general public as well as for educational purposes, such as ours.

We also included a couple of other stops at the Bentonville Town Square as well as a Civil War battlefield……

Pea Ridge was a crucial battle along the Missouri/Arkansas border that kept the Rebel (Confederate) forces from crossing into MO; keeping Missouri essentially a “Border State” for the remainder of the Civil War.
